This has been a slow month for cakes so far...my husband was excited he was getting dinner tonight. That's what I do when I don't have a cake I cook. I think I was born to be in the kitchen! I'm getting a website, finally! So, ya'll will have to check it out. I need to make my blog public but just haven't done it yet. So, I will let ya'll know how it goes.

We did decorate Trin's 7th birthday cake. I'll find a picture for you. She helped me, it was a lot of fun. We've decided she will be my successor... Maybe I should start her on fondant so she will have it DOWN first! I have a difficult time making it the same way twice. I did see on a cake challenge on Food Network someone using pastillage. I found a recipe and I'm going to try it next and see if I like it better than fondant. Wish me luck!

Yummy cookies! I made lingerie cookies for Crystal. She hosted a bachelorette party and asked me to make the cutest pantie and bra cookies. Super easy and super cute. There is nothing better than a shortbread cookie with royal icing...I hope the girls liked them Crystal.

This week Trinity and I are designing and decorating her seventh birthday cake which is going to be a rock star theme. We have chosen elements from several different rock star cakes to come up with her own. She has a style of her own you know! This is going to be FUN!

Shooo! Cakes are done and delivered. Things went quite smoothly. I finished the bride's cake Friday evening and even had time to stack the grooms cake. So..it rested in the frig overnight and I was up early Saturday morning to finish. I learned that corn starch works wonders to dry fondant without a whole lot of effort. The groom's cake, by the way, was a "Bud Light Beer" bottle. Jim helped make a major support for the bottle and I used rice treats for the neck.. So what do you think?

This week is cookie week. I am baking and decorating lingerie cookies for a bachelorette party. Too cute! Pictures later!!!

And, the next project is... Jimmy and Erica's wedding cakes. Starting Sunday, baking and making... I'm excited to get started! The bride's cake will be 4 tiers, 3 flavors, white butter cream, black scrolls, black band around each tier and red roses scattered around. And all thou, this cake has the same colors as the Crane cake it will be totally different. The groom's cake will be one flavor covered with fondant..this one is going to be fun! I will not be posting again until after the delivery! Say a little prayer! Thanks...

This is the first opportunity I have had to post anything...I was really busy last week baking and making and finally on Thursday I actually started decorating the cakes and worked until time to deliver on Saturday. (I did sleep a few hours) Here it is, four tiered hexagon design with black scrolls and flowers with crimson beads. I was really tired when I finished but it was so worth it. I am pleased with the way both cakes turned out. And from what I hear everyone at the reception loved them. John (the groom) called me the day after and told me they had all kinds of compliments on the cakes..GOOD TO HEAR! Now on to the next project!

Time to start working on the wedding cakes for Saturday! Today, I covered the hexagon board with white satin and a black satin ribbon edge..only a strip of white will show after the cake is on it. I also covered the Groom's cake stand with black satin and I've started working on the sides of the block. I am decorating each side with a different element from John's college fraternity. You'll see when I post pictures of the cakes...Check in later.

I am making both cake boards, so I will need to start gathering my supplies NOW! Say a little prayer and I will keep you posted on my progress.

Sweet Stuff by Vickie

Here's a few more of my cakes.

I have to tell you about my newest sales representative! Her name is Trinity and she is my six year old granddaughter. We were talking the other night while I was preparing for a wedding cake tasting and she told me her teacher's baby just had his first birthday and I could have done the cake...I explained that I didn't know about it or I would have been more than happy to deocrate his cake...so! I gave her some business cards and told her the next time she hears or knows someone needs a cake to hand them a business card and tell them her Mimi does cakes.

So, watch out here she comes!

Cake decorating is my PASSION!

I started baking and decorating cakes for my grandchildren five years ago and discovered I LOVE IT! Since then I have learned by trial and error, teaching myself how to use decorating tips, to make tasty fondant and of course to bake a moist yummy cake. I have chosen the best tasting recipes for vairious cake flavors and frostings and my list of recipes keeps growing.

Just ask any of my grandchildren, they will tell you their Mimi makes the BEST cakes! I actually have created a few cake snobs! I have had several people compare my cakes to
local bakeries telling me my cakes taste better. I have done several wedding cakes, countless
character cakes, baby shower, wedding shower, cookies, cupcakes

My objective is to give my clients a designer cake with a budget price!
